Inspiring the Next Generation at Oriel High School with Quality Management

Last week, Paul and Rashne from Everwell Associates had the pleasure of attending the Oriel High School speed careers event, spending time with Year 7 and Year 9 students to talk about careers, business ownership, and the work we do.

The event was a brilliant opportunity to meet young people at different stages of thinking about their future. Year 7 students came prepared with three set questions, moving quickly from one business to the next in a fast-paced format. Year 9 students took a different approach, asking questions to try and guess each visitor’s profession.
It is fair to say that terms like quality management, process improvement, and industry compliance were not immediately familiar to many of the students. However, that was part of what made the event so valuable.
These areas of work are often behind the scenes, but they play an important role in helping businesses run safely, efficiently, and in line with the standards expected of them. From improving how organisations work, to helping them meet compliance requirements, quality management is about creating better systems, stronger processes, and more reliable outcomes.
The students asked thoughtful questions, listened carefully, and showed real curiosity about the different career paths available to them. While our profession may not have been one they had heard of before, they were particularly impressed to learn that we own and run the company ourselves.
For us, that was an important part of the conversation. Careers are not always linear, and there are many ways to build a working life that suits your skills, interests, and values. Events like this give young people a chance to hear directly from local businesses and see the variety of opportunities that exist beyond the roles they may already know.
We would like to thank Oriel High School for inviting us to take part and for creating such an engaging event for the students.
It was a pleasure to share a little more about what we do at Everwell Associates, and hopefully, to show that even the careers people have not heard of yet can be interesting, valuable, and full of opportunity.
